Different techniques are used to first color the clear glass then stuff the vessel into an optic mold to create ridges. The ridges are then twisted over each other on a flat clean surface (a marver) and melted into a smooth surface. The piece is reintroduced into the optic mold creating another set of ridges which are then twisted in the opposite direction. The result is a pattern with clear windows on the surface that are intriguing on their own but also serve to allow the viewer to look through the piece.
